Director at Large - Anita Greenberg

Greenberg.Anita pic.jpg
Anita Greenberg
anita@positivecoachingforchange.com

For the past 14 years I have been involved in the residential property management business.  When I began, I was involved with eight apartment buildings and dealt with some of the tasks involved in the accounting side of the business as well as some of the tasks involved in the management of staff (superintendents) and tenant relations.

Today, my husband and I run a very successful property management company where we manage over 2500 suites. I am solely responsible for having set up the accounting department and I have total control over the day-to-day tasks  and activities in this department. I have become so well versed in the property management computer program we now use that I am writing a manual for its use. In addition, I am responsible for overseeing the staff in my department (now five people and growing) and delegating to them the various tasks involved in the accounting side of this business as well as the management of tenant relations.

Prior to entering this business, after two years of university, I took a legal secretarial course and worked as a legal secretary. Soon thereafter I worked myself up to become a real estate law clerk and was not only responsible for the preparation of purchase and sale files, but also attended at the Registry Offices and closed and registered these transactions myself. At the same time, I was also responsible for Landlord and Tenant files and again, not only prepared the paperwork for those files, but attended at Court and spoke to those matters as well. I worked in that capacity for over 10 years at which time I started my family.  I now have three children ranging in ages from 18 to 25.

I am fortunate that I am now able to work at the career about which I am passionate. I am, of course, referring to coaching. I am slowly retreating from the property management business as my daughter slowly steps into my shoes so that I can follow my heart’s work.

I therefore come to the Board with small business expertise, accounting expertise and the ability to manage and negotiate with people.  I am very hardworking, diligent and organized.  I hope that these skills will be of use to the Board and look forward to making a valued contribution.
