Profile

The International Coach Federation (ICF) was founded in 1995 to advance the art, science and practice of professional coaching.  As the leading global organization dedicated to advancing the coaching profession ICF sets high standards, provides independent certification, and builds a worldwide network of credentialed coaches.  ICF is the voice of the global coaching profession with more than 17,000 professional, personal and business coaches in over 95 countries.

ICF-GTA Coaches was founded in 1999 to promote awareness and public recognition of the value and positive impact of coaching, and cultivates a collaborative, inclusive community for Greater Toronto Area coaches from all schools and traditions, by:
  • Creating opportunities for research and the development of the art and science of coaching
  • Maintaining standards for professional coaching, set by ICF, and continually “raising the bar”
  • Providing professional development opportunities for its members
  • Celebrating organizational and member coaching achievements

Recognized for its creativity and innovation by ICF International, ICF-GTA Coaches, with a current membership of over 500 professional coaches in the GTA and Ontario, is one of the five leading international chapters.  Its innovations include The PRISM Award, launched in 2001 – the highest award of the coaching profession, which recognizes coaching initiatives in organizations that have implemented coaching effectively to inspire transformation. The presentation of this unique award is one of the highlight events of the year for the Greater Toronto Area chapter of the International Coach Federation. The Prism Award, adopted by the International Coach Federation, is now presented annually in many Coaching Chapters around the world.
